Wire Journal News - Sequel Expansion Update April 3, 2022 Wire Journal News features update on Sequel expansion: Sequel Wire Completes Expansion Featured Sequel Wire and Cable reports that, since launching the business in Argos, Indiana, in January 2020, it has been successful despite global economic challenges. Those results led to a need for more capacity, and the insulated copper wire manufacturer recently completed an expansion and has hired a new sales manager. A press release said that in July 2021, after six months of insulating products, Sequel needed to expand production to meet demand. A year later, the Phase 1 production expansion to the 162,000-sq-ft greenfield site has been completed, and is fully operational. The facility expansion has doubled internal wire drawing capabilities, and raised PVC wire output by a third. The company said that the investments have made for more flexibility and shorter lead times for customers. We started 2026 somewhat slowly and at the end of January we experienced a rather rapid uptick in demand that’s been sustained throughout the rest of this First Quarter. We’ve witnessed political whipsaw effects from tariff implementation and repeals, but one thing has been consistent. Pressure on pricing for raw materials and services to make our products. As I’ve said, we’ve been fortunate to have increased demand for our wire products. Supply chain constraints have reduced availability and increased the cost of raw materials, resulting in inflationary effects on virtually every aspect of our business. Volatile copper prices, oil and gas availability impacting the base components for insulation and jacketing compounds, transportation costs on everything we utilize to make wire, and the list grows longer with each passing day. Unfortunately, we do not see any relief in the near term, especially with respect to petroleum-based precursors and transportation. Naturally, we’ll do our best to minimize the impact of any market changes to deliver the best value for our customers. We will be adjusting pricing by 4-7%, effective with orders placed on or after Friday May 1, 2026 . This action is required to offset some of the increases and remain a viable long-term supplier of wire and cable. Your new price sheet will be issued early during the first week of May.
